Local River Levels to Increase This Weekend

Bozeman, MT – Local river levels are forecast to increase again this weekend, especially on the Jefferson River.  The National Weather Service is predicting that the Jefferson River will increase to around 8.9 feet on Saturday.  This puts this river at almost Major Flood Stage.  For reference, when that area of the Jefferson River experienced flooding in 2011, it crested at 9.38 feet.

Property owners near rivers should closely monitor water levels going into the weekend.  If it looks like they may be affected by flood water, they should implement their plan to protect their property.  Don’t wait to act – Once flooding occurs, it is too late to prevent the damage.

Citizens are encouraged to register in the Community Notification System to be quickly notified of developing incidents, such as flooding.  Learn more at ReadyGallatin.com/Community-Notification-System.
