Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Responds to Practice Rock

On September 21, 2013, at 4:52 pm, Gallatin County 911 received a call about a climber that fell from Practice Rock in Hyalite Canyon. Initial reports indicated the climber fell 30-40 feet and had a broken ankle and head injury. Gallatin County Search and Rescue along with RAE/Sourdough Fire responded to the scene. It took the rescuers about an hour and a half to get the injured climber off the side of the mountain due to the rough terrain. The climber was transported to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to treat his injuries.
