(West Yellowstone, Mont.) Sunday March 23rd at 6:17 p.m., Gallatin County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue responded to the report of an injured snowmobiler on Madison Arm Road approximately 4 miles west of U.S. 191. Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue (West Yellowstone Division), and the U.S Forest Service assisted with the rescue. A 44-year-old female from Santa Clara, Utah suffered a possible dislocated shoulder when the snowmobile ahead of her braked suddenly. The injured rider lost control of her snowmobile which rolled approximately two times ejecting her over the front of the snowmobile. She was quickly packaged and transported by the rescue team to an awaiting Hebgen Basin Fire Department ambulance. The ambulance then transported her to the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg Idaho.
Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin would like to remind everyone that the key to safe operation is knowing your limitations, and using good judgment. Your speed and following distance should allow you to safely respond to sudden maneuvers by other snowmobilers and changing trail conditions. Photo coutesy of Gallatin County Sheriff’s SAR.#####
