Rickett Press Release II

On Sunday, July 8th, 2012, at approximately 5:00 pm the Manhattan Police Department responded to a report of a woman who had been held captive in her home.  The Manhattan Police Department requested an Agency Assist for investigation of the incident.   The victim stated that at approximately 7 am an adult male appeared in her bedroom, tied her and duct-taped her hands and legs together.  The suspect also duct-taped a blindfold in place and restrained her in the bedroom.  Later in the day the suspect left the residence in her car.  During this time frame the victim was able to escape from her house and alert a neighbor.  The neighbor then called law enforcement.

During the initial investigation a description of a suspect was provided to Law Enforcement.   Approximately one hour later, the suspect, Charles Rickett, was located in Manhattan and taken into custody.  Investigation of the incident is on-going.  Assistance of the investigation is being provided by Detectives with the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, Charles Rickett, had earlier walked away from the Pre-Release Center, located in Bozeman, on July 8, 2012, at approximately 1:30 am.     Local and State Law Enforcement Agencies were notified of his walk-away and a warrant was issued for his arrest.   Rickett is currently being held at the Gallatin County Detention Center on the warrant and a charge of kidnapping.

On Monday, July 9, 2012, Charles Rickett had an initial appearance in Gallatin County Justice Court on a charge of kidnapping.  Bond was set at $50,000.
