For immediate release: May 6, 2020
From Bonnie Lower, Willow Creek School Principal and Superintendent:
Willow Creek School will be reopening its doors for students on Thursday, May 7. Students will begin arriving at school around 7:30 a.m. with the first bell beginning class at 8 a.m.
School officials are aware of media interest, including from national outlets, in this reopening. Our top priority is that our students feel comfortable and safe to return to their school. So we are asking all media who plan on coming to the school to be aware of the following.
There will be a designated media area directly across from the school on Main Street in Willow Creek. Media will NOT be allowed on school property. Media are asked to stay in the designated area at all times while students and their families are arriving at the school.
We requested the assistance of the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office to make sure kids feel safe as they return to their school.
We respectfully ask that media do not approach children or their parents at bus stops or anywhere other than the designated area across from the school where the media can get the necessary footage.
Gallatin County Sheriff’s deputies will be patrolling the areas where students and their parents will be and Sheriff Brian Gootkin and Principal Lower will be present at the school on Thursday morning to help answer any reporter questions or concerns.
Thank you for your cooperation.
