A fiber cut Monday evening, April 27th, affected many landline phone customers in Manhattan and Three Forks. Many landline customers were unable to call the main dispatch center at Gallatin County 911 on their landline phones. Cell phone service to 911 was not affected. Over 75% of all 911 calls are received from cell phones. Technicians responded quickly to the outage and were working throughout the night but had no estimate of when the service would be repaired . Residents in Manhattan and Three Forks should first use their cell phones to call 911 for emergency services until the repairs are complete.
