Porcupine Trailhead Rescue

On Tuesday, October, 2013, at approximately 5:42 p.m., the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Big Sky Search and Rescue, and the Big Sky Fire Department responded to an incident that occurred approximately 1.5 miles east of the Porcupine Trailhead. A 37 year-old female sustained a shoulder injury when she fell from the horse she was riding. Rescue personnel were able to transport the injured female to the Porcupine Trailhead where she was transferred to the waiting ambulance and transported to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to make sure they have proper safety equipment including suitable clothing, and first aid kits when enjoying Montana’s scenic by-ways.  A relatively simple trip can easily turn into something much more without the proper equipment and the knowledge of how to use it.
