Weather Forecast Indicates Opportunity for More Progress Today
Bozeman, MT – The Millie Fire, twenty miles south of Bozeman, is now 10 percent contained, at 10,186 acres.
A more stable atmosphere combined with cooler temperature and less wind is predicted today.  Relative humidity will be lower, however, creating potential for more active behavior.  Fire in most areas will be creeping and smoldering, with low flame lengths.  Some single and group tree torching may be observed on south and west aspects as the day warms up.
On the west flank, the south side, and the northern edge construction of containment line continues. Crews continue chipping along the road in Hyalite Canyon to remove fuel.  Structure protection work in South Cottonwood Canyon, Hyalite Canyon and the Blanchard area will continue.
Residents and visitors to the area have been expressing support to the fire crews for all their hard work. Additional crews and equipment continue to arrive.  Among these are two Type 2 crews from Pennsylvania, which arrived yesterday.
Three helicopters are assigned to the incident, and one more is expected to arrive today. Water drops will be made on the headwaters of South Cottonwood Creek, and other areas as necessary.
As of Sunday night there were 2 Type 1 hand crews, 7 Type 2 hand crews, 21 engines, eight dozers and a total of 412 people assigned to this fire.
Another Fire Information Meeting will be held at 6:00p.m. this evening at Hope Lutheran Church, 2152 W. Graf St., in Bozeman.
The public is reminded that fire traffic on roads in the area, combined with returning holiday traffic will make driving especially hazardous.  Please use caution when driving.
